Yes, it’s true, you read it right girls. In today’s brand spanking new issue we’ve revealed that the 80′s style mullet is back. Oh and mohawks too. Or slicked back biker rock-chick styles. All in all it seems that the hair styles we thought we’d left behind in the 1980′s era are coming back, but before you get disheartened, this uber-cool hair style has been given a new lease of life and is actually pretty darn cool to pull off.

Fendi: Autumn Winter 2013

It was the biggest hair trend to come out of the Autumn/Winter 2013 shows – everyone from Fendi to Marc Jacobs was channelling their inner punk. And the models we spoke to backstage at Marc Jacobs and Jean Paul Gaultier seemed more than happy to rock the look. It’s doing for hair styles what the dip-dye did for colouring people! Our fave look had to be the one that backstage hair hero Guido created at Jean Paul Gaultier, transforming girls’ locks into Bowie-esque masterpieces with the use of wigs and special extensions. Whilst over at Fendi, king of coiffure Sam McKnight created an equally fabulous dip-dyed mohawk look. Who said hair had become dull then?!

If the mullet is too much for you to handle just yet, capture the gloss of the early 1980′s with the ‘wet effect’ hair seen at Balmain, Missoni and Lanvin. Inspired by the rebellious spirit of the punk era, hair was blown right back and sides slicked to achieve a modern style that had attitude and a whole lotta cool thrown in too. Watch this space as Grazia Team Beauty get in on the trend and in the mean time check out our gallery of top mullet and mohawk styles from the AW13 shows…
